Ladakh’s secrets can be traced back to the Neolithic era, with historians finding rock carvings in several places. This is also one of India’s highest districts at an elevation of 3000 meters. Being at that altitude, coupled with the seemingly sparse vegetation makes Ladakh one of the world’s major cold deserts.

You would be surprised thinking that a landscape like Ladakh can host such a diversity of species, but high altitude birds have always thrived here! Most people are pastoralists, tending to their yaks.
